After taking sharp digs at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his frequent foreign visits, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has now aimed his criticism at Union Home Minister Amit Shah, referring to him as a “fugitive”. Mann also questioned the Home Minister’s past legal history.
Responding to media questions about a legal notice issued by Delhi Cabinet Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa to Punjab AAP President Aman Arora, Mann hit back strongly: “Sirsa should first explain his own relationship with gangsters. Who is sitting inside Sabarmati Jail? Who poses the biggest threat? These people were nurtured by you and have close ties with criminal networks.”
Taking it a step further, the Punjab CM added, “Our Home Minister was banished. He had to leave Gujarat. He was exiled from there. When an absconded person becomes the Home Minister, then what should we say?”
Mann’s remarks referred to past controversies involving Amit Shah during his tenure in Gujarat, cases in which Shah was eventually acquitted.
Reinforcing his commitment to maintaining law and order in Punjab, Mann said: “We will bring gangsters to justice. If anyone threatens the safety of Punjabis, there will be no leniency. Strict action will be taken as per the law.”
