Jharkhand election co-incharge and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today said that there is not enough place in BJP for those MLAs from Congress and JMM in Jharkhand willing to join the fold.
Talking to media persons during his visit to Ranchi on Monday Biswa Sarma said a good number of Congress and JMM MLAs are in constant touch with him, but it is very difficult to accommodate them in the party.
“So many legislators are in touch, but we don’t have space for everyone in the party. Our BJP MLAs will start thrashing me if I start taking names of Congress, BJP MLAs,” he said.
“At one point of time, 12-14 Congress MLAs are always in touch, including 2-3 JMM legislators. But, taking names will upset our own MLAs as to why I am considering other names from their seats,” added Biswa Sarma.
Notably, former Minister and Congress leader Bandhu Tirkey has recently alleged that Biswa Sarma had tried to give him an offer to destabilise the State government two years ago, but he refused.
On the question of giving any particular task to former Chief Minister Champai Soren for the upcoming elections, the Assam CM said that Champai Soren has his working style.
“We have asked him to start campaigning for the party in his own style. We have not set any rules for him. He is a seasoned leader and he knows his job,” said the BJP leader.
