Panic gripped a locality in Yamunanagar after a masked man opened fire outside a liquor store. After firing around 12 rounds, the accused fled the spot. The assailant also left behind a threatening note, prompting the police to explore multiple angles, including gang rivalry and extortion.
The incident, which was captured on CCTV, showed the liquor store’s glass door shattered—reportedly by gunfire. Following the alert, the local police and crime branch units swiftly arrived at the location and brought the situation under control.
The police have launched a manhunt to trace and apprehend the suspect. Residents have been urged to remain calm and cooperate with the ongoing investigation.
The police are not ruling out the possibility of the attack being linked to organized crime, as the state has seen a rise in gang-related violence and extortion in recent months.
In a similar incident in December last year, two individuals were shot dead and another critically injured by unidentified gunmen in Yamunanagar while they were sitting in a car outside a gym. Five to six assailants on motorcycles carried out the attack before escaping.
Earlier, in September 2024, a shooting incident at a liquor shop in Sonipat left three people dead and two others hurt, further highlighting the growing concern over violent crime in Haryana.
