Post Delhi blast and in the wake of recovery of arms, ammunition on large scale J&K Police conducted raids and massive crackdown on Jamaat-e-Islami networks in several districts of Kashmir as a part of investigation into newly emerged terror modules and possible links of people.
Anantnag Police carried out coordinated raids in the district on Wednesday amid a massive crackdown against the banned organisation Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI). In Kulgam, police are carrying out a crackdown against the anti-national elements, checking vehicles at the Navyug tunnel.Kulgam SSP Anayat Ali Choudhary said that the police caught a Nepali citizen and a contraband of ‘charas’ on Tuesday.
Police in Kulgam district carried out coordinated raids at more than 200 locations across the district.These searches were conducted at the houses and premises of JeI members and their associates as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle networks supporting terrorism and to neutralise their ground-level influence.Police said that during the past four days alone, more than 400 Cordon and Search Operations (CASOs) have been conducted across different areas of the district, including locations previously associated with encounters, militant hideouts, and Over Ground Workers (OGWs).
In another major coordinated operation, Sopore Police carried out a series of search operations across multiple locations in the district of Sopore, targeting individuals and premises linked to the JeI, which had been banned under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
“During the operations, a significant quantity of incriminating material, including documents, digital gadgets, and printed content with links to the banned organisation, was recovered and seized for detailed scrutiny. Several individuals are being questioned to ascertain their involvement in unlawful activities,” police said.In the Shopian district, police carried out searches at multiple locations, targeting the residences of JeI activists. Police said the houses of Dr Hameed Fayaz at Naidgam and Mohammad Yousuf Falahie at Chitragam, among others, were searched during the operation.
Speaking from Panchkula, DGP Singh stated that the response involves exhaustive checks of suspected hideouts, parking areas, unclaimed vehicles and luggage, as well as other standard security protocols to prevent any further incidents. “You might think it’s easy to say, ‘Go to the ground.’ High alert means thousands of hours, thousands of personnel, and we’re fully engaged, along with other agencies,” he said.
Meanwhile, in a major, well-coordinated operation, J&K Police carried out extensive Search operations at multiple locations across District Ganderbal, targeting individuals and premises associated with the proscribed organization Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI), banned under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).The district-wide counter–terror and anti-separatist operation was conducted simultaneously in several areas with the assistance of other security agencies.
The action followed credible intelligence inputs indicating attempts by JeI-linked elements to revive organizational activities through covert channels and front groups.During the raids, a large quantity of incriminating materials including documents, digital devices, and printed content having direct links with the banned outfit were recovered and seized for detailed analysis.
