The agreement was finalised during a meeting between the chief minister A Revanth Reddy and Chris Kempczinski, Chairman & CEO, McDonalds.

The Telangana government announced on Wednesday a major deal with multinational fast food giant, McDonald’s, under which the company will set up its Global Capability Center (GCC) in Hyderabad.

The agreement was finalised during a meeting between the chief minister A Revanth Reddy and Chris Kempczinski, Chairman & CEO, McDonalds, here.

The meeting was attended by top McDonald’s executives including president of Global Business Services (GBS) Skye Anderson, chief global impact officer Jon Banner, and GBS India head Deshant Kaila. The global office is being planned with an initial headcount of 2,000 employees.

Kempczinski said Hyderabad was selected over other competing cities like Bengaluru because of its high-quality talent, better infrastructure and superior quality of living.

The chief minister Reddy emphasised the state government’s significant investments in skilling initiatives over the past 15 months and urged McDonald’s to leverage the Young India Skills University to recruit trained personnel for both their Hyderabad office and their restaurant operations across India.

McDonalds, through their Indian business partner, currently has 38 outlets in Telangana and is planning to add three to four new ones every year, including in Tier-2 and Tier-3 towns.

The chief minister offered to source the entire agricultural produce required by McDonald’s from the local farming community, which would also give a big boost to Telangana’s agricultural economy and augment farmers’ incomes, a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said.

Meanwhile, Kempczinski briefed him about the community development programmes run by McDonald’s worldwide and assured such programmes in Telangana in consultation with the government.
