A medical chartered aircraft with seven individuals, including a seriously ill patient, crashed in Chatra district of Jharkhand on Monday evening. The aircraft had taken off from Ranchi and was heading to Delhi, officials said.

The aircraft was a Beechcraft King Air BE9L operated by Redbird Airways Pvt Ltd. It departed from Birsa Munda Airport in Ranchi at 7:07 pm and was expected to land in Delhi at around 10 pm. Sources in Aviation confirmed that the aircraft lost contact with Air Traffic Control at 7:34 pm. Its last location was traced near Palamau before it crashed in the Kasiyatu forest area of Simaria in Chatra district.

Those on board included patient Sanjay Kumar (41), two pilots — Vivek Vikash Bhagat and Savrajdeep Singh — doctor Vikash Kumar Gupta, paramedic Sachin Kumar Mishra, and attendants Archana Devi and Dhuru Kumar.

Local police and district officials rushed to the crash site after receiving information. The Superintendent of Police, Chatra, stated that teams were moving towards the remote forest area to assess the situation and confirm the casualties and damage. Official details about the condition of those on board were still awaited when this report was filed.

The aircraft was operating as an air ambulance and was taking the patient from Ranchi to Delhi for treatment. Authorities have not yet confirmed what caused the crash. Aviation regulators are likely to begin a formal inquiry. This will include checking flight data, technical records, and weather conditions at the time of take-off.
