Meghalaya recently held the 7th edition of the Megha Kayak Fest, showcasing an exhilarating experience of whitewater racing at Umtham Village in Ri Bhoi District.
The three-day event, which ran from October 10 to 12, combined adventure, nature, and competition, all aimed at promoting adventure tourism and establishing Meghalaya as a premier water sports destination.
Renowned for being one of the wettest regions globally, Meghalaya's unique geography offers numerous rivers ideal for white-water kayaking. The festival featured Olympic-approved disciplines such as Giant Slalom, Extreme Boater-cross, and Time-Trial Races.
A notable aspect of this year's event was its focus on encouraging female participation in adventure sports, highlighting the festival’s commitment to inclusivity.
In tandem with the kayak festivities, the Adventurous Hynniewtrep Offroaders (AHOR) hosted the 6th edition of the AHOR 4×4 Offroad Challenge at the picturesque Kharsati Nature Park, also in Umtham.
This year's challenge, held from October 10 to 12, included three categories: Pro Modified, Modified, and Stock, allowing off-road enthusiasts of varying skill levels to participate.
Over three days, competitors faced six challenging tracks, providing both seasoned drivers and newcomers the opportunity to showcase their skills and determination.
The 6th AHOR 4×4 Offroad Challenge hdas emerged as one of the largest off-roading events in Meghalaya, drawing participants from across the state and beyond, creating a vibrant gathering of off-road enthusiasts from various regions of the country.
