A 12-year-old boy lost his life on Sunday evening in a road accident on the Paonta Sahib–Gumma–Fedizpul National Highway (NH-707) near Kamrau village in the Shillai Assembly constituency. The mishap took place when a hydra crane moving on the highway struck a scooter parked by the roadside.

 

The deceased has been identified as Parth, a resident of Khajiar (Kamrau). Eyewitnesses said the boy was sitting on the scooter and his father had gone nearby to buy some items. The rear tyre of the hydra crane allegedly hit the scooter, which left the minor boy seriously hurt. He was rushed to Paonta Sahib hospital but died on the way.

 

After the incident, angry local residents blocked NH-707, leading to traffic disruption for several hours.

 

Additional Superintendent of Police, Sirmaur, Yogesh Rolta said an investigation has been started and further action will be taken as per law.
