Even as majority of Kashmir based mainstream political parties have not yet reacted to Delhi blast and its links to doctors from UT,  Awami Itihaad Party (AIP)founder  Jailed MP Baramulla Er Rashid is observing two day hunger strike from 12 November (Wednesday) inside Jail No. 1. He had formally notified the Tihar Jail authorities of his decision on Tuesday.

Quoting the letter addressed by Er Rashid to the DG Prisons, New Delhi, party spokesperson Inam Un Nabi said, “Er Rashid  has expressed deep grief over the tragic loss of precious human lives in the Delhi blast of 10 November 2025. He has condemned the attack unequivocally and described it as an assault on humanity.”

Inam Un Nabi further quoted from the letter: “Er Rashid has raised serious concern over media reports that even educated Kashmiris, including doctors, are being pushed towards the path of violence. Through his hunger strike, he wants to remind Kashmiris that we cannot afford to lose more young and educated people.”

Inam Un Nabi said that Er Rashid sb, despite being incarcerated, continues to uphold the moral duty of representing the sentiments and aspirations of the people. “He has made it clear on behalf of his electorate that violence has no place in a civilized society. His appeal is to all stakeholders to give genuine peace a fair chance,” Inam said.

AIP said the hunger strike is a moral protest and a call to introspection for all especially for Kashmiri youth, urging them to understand the disastrous consequences of violence and return to the path of peace.

Meanwhile. Kashmir’s chief cleric, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, condemned the Red Fort blast .“I am deeply saddened by the tragic car blast in Delhi that has claimed precious lives and injured many. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayers for the swift recovery of those injured. May almighty Allah grant strength and patience to all affected by this tragedy,” the Mirwaiz said, in a post on X.

While  Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday has expressed profound grief and shock over the tragic blast near Red Fort in Delhi, which has claimed eight lives and left many injured, other senior leaders of the ruling party have chosen ‘no reaction’.

In his message, the Chief Minister extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls. He also wished a speedy recovery to all those injured in the incident. PDP president Mehbooba Mufti condemned Delhi blast two days after the incident.
