The mutilated body of a girl, who had been missing since December 29 last year, was recovered from the Nihri area of the district, according to the police.
The police said on Wednesday that the girl was a student of Government Secondary School, Nihari, in the Sundernagar subdivision.
She had left her house without telling anyone on December 29. Her father later lodged a missing person’s complaint, suspecting that his daughter had been kidnapped.
On Tuesday evening, a police team recovered the mutilated body with the help of a drone. Her left leg and arm were found missing. The body was located around 1.5 km away from the road, under a cliff.
Police said the spot was inspected with the assistance of a forensic team, and further probe is underway. After a post-mortem examination, the body was handed over to the family on Wednesday, police added.
