Mizoram has recorded over 96 per cent distribution of enumeration forms among voters as part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, Chief Electoral Officer Garima Gupta said. According to Gupta, Booth Level Officers have distributed Enumeration Forms to more than 8.42 lakh voters out of the total 8.75 lakh electors in the state, achieving 96.26 per cent coverage.

She further informed that 19.13 per cent of the distributed forms have already been collected or verified, while 19.14 per cent have been digitised as part of the revision process.

The SIR exercise commenced on May 20, following directives issued by the Election Commission of India, and is currently underway across all districts of the state. As per the schedule, the enumeration phase will continue until June 28, with the draft electoral rolls set to be published on July 5.

Gupta said that under the ongoing revision process, all existing voters as well as eligible citizens seeking inclusion in the electoral roll are required to submit fresh applications.

She explained that the primary objective of the exercise is to ensure that every eligible voter is included in the rolls while removing the names of ineligible individuals.

The Chief Electoral Officer also urged all eligible residents to actively participate in the process and verify that their names are correctly reflected in the updated electoral rolls.

The revision exercise is considered a crucial step toward maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the state's electoral database.
