A mob set fire to a school in Patna's Digha area on Friday after a four-year-old student was found dead on the campus, police reported.
The child, who did not return home from school on Thursday, was discovered lifeless on the premises late that night, causing his family and local residents to erupt in anger.
The boy's family had approached the school authorities earlier, who denied the child was there, further escalating the situation.
On Friday morning, enraged family members and locals gathered outside the school, setting the building ablaze and attempting to block traffic by burning tyres on the road. "The fire was immediately brought under control," a police officer stated.
Three individuals have been detained in connection with the child’s death. Police are currently analyzing CCTV footage from the school as part of their investigation.
"A case has been registered and an investigation is underway. All evidence collected from the spot is being forensically examined," Senior Superintendent of Police Rajeev Mishra said.
District Magistrate Shirsat Kapil Ashok commented on the situation, stating, "The district education officer has sought a detailed report about the incident from the officials concerned in the area."
