The day following the arrival of the monsoon, the IMD has predicted that Mumbai will experience moderate to heavy rainfall.
The southwest monsoon reached Mumbai a day ago, resulting in widespread rain and flooding across the city.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that Mumbai experienced the onset of monsoons on Sunday, two days earlier than usual, due to favourable conditions along the Maharashtra coast.
The heavy rainfall on Sunday caused waterlogging in several areas, such as Byculla, Sion, Dadar, Mazgaon, Kurla, Vikhroli, and Andheri, leading to significant disruptions in vehicular movement and traffic congestion.
Train services and the city's lifeline were also affected by water accumulation on the tracks at certain locations. According to an official from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the island city recorded an average rainfall of 99.11 mm in the 24-hour period ending at 8 a.m. on Monday.
Additionally, Mumbai's eastern and western parts received 61.29 mm and 73.78 mm of rainfall, respectively.
The IMD has forecast a cloudy sky on Monday, with possible thunderstorms and moderate to heavy rains in the city and suburbs.
Although Mumbai experienced overcast skies, most parts of the city have not received any rainfall since Monday morning.
