On the death anniversary of Punjabi singer Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, popularly known as Sidhu Moosewala, his father Balkaur Singh accused the government and police of failing to deliver justice. He alleged that even after three years, he continues to face harassment while the main conspirators behind his son’s murder remain free.
Balkaur Singh expressed disappointment over the pace of the probe into the singer’s killing. He was speaking to gatherings in Mansa. He said despite the passage of time since Sidhu Moosewala was brutally shot dead in broad daylight on May 29, 2022, the family is still waiting for complete justice in the case.
Speaking to supporters, Balkaur Singh alleged that the police have only apprehended local shooters and identified known gang members, while the larger political and financial conspiracy behind the murder is being protected.
“I lost my only son, but instead of getting justice, I am being made to run from office to office,” he alleged. He claimed the family had submitted evidence and repeatedly approached authorities, but the system was trying to weaken their case.
His remarks come amid ongoing tensions with police and the state administration. Recently, the family had also staged protests outside the Mansa SSP office over the alleged unauthorised use of Moosewala’s unreleased songs and pending company-related payments.
Expressing frustration over the law-and-order situation, Balkaur Singh hinted at taking the fight for justice to a larger public platform. He criticised the government’s anti-gangster campaign and said such efforts mean little if the key masterminds behind high-profile killings are still at large.
Heavy security arrangements were put in place across Mansa and Moosa village as thousands of fans gathered to pay tribute to the late singer. The anniversary event also turned into a large gathering demanding justice for Sidhu Moosewala.
On the occasion, the family also inaugurated a stadium in Moosewala’s memory in his native village.
