In a shocking incident, a woman allegedly strangled her three-year-old son to death in Chholi village under the Baldev police station area of Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura, police said on Tuesday. According to officials, the incident occurred on Monday afternoon when the child was playing outside his house. His mother, identified as Ruchi, was speaking on the phone and had repeatedly asked him to remain quiet. When the child continued to make noise, she allegedly strangled him. Police arrested Ruchi on murder charges.
Police said the accused then placed the child’s body inside a room and later informed her husband that the boy had not woken up for a long time. Family members rushed the child to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
The matter came to light later in the evening when the accused’s brother-in-law alerted the police at around 7:50 pm. A team reached the spot, secured the area, and began an investigation.
Mahavan circle officer Sandeep Kumar said that a call was received from a local resident informing that the woman had strangled her son.
“The child was playing outside and was repeatedly asked by his mother to stay quiet. When he did not comply, she strangled him and later tried to mislead the family by saying he was sleeping,” he said.
Police have registered a case against the accused and initiated further investigation. Officials said statements of family members are being recorded and evidence from the scene is being examined.
