Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Friday deposited ₹25,000 each into bank accounts of 94,234 students who secured 75 per cent and above in their Class XII board exams to purchase laptops. Yadav also declared that high-end laptops of the same amount will be provided from next year rather than incentive money.
He distributed a total of ₹235 crore under his government's Meritorious Student Promotion Scheme at a function organised in Kushabhau Thakre International Convention Centre. Fifteen students were handed over laptops on stage by the CM during the function.
"Education is the turning point of overall development of human beings and 'education for all' is the development mantra of the state government. Our government has done everything possible to spread the light of education to every child of the state. Studies alone, but also the foundation of their prosperous future is being laid by linking talented students with new technology and new education techniques," Yadav stated during the occasion.

The recipients included 60 per cent girls and 40 per cent boys, he said, also adding "our daughters are braving obstacles and succeeding in all walks of life".
Over 4.32 lakh deserving students have till date availed themselves of this scheme initiated 15 years ago, the state expending Rs 1080 crore on the scheme during these years, he said.
"The government has also distributed notebooks, uniforms, bicycles and scooty to the students and now we are also distributing laptops. This move will be very helpful in linking students with digital and contemporary education," he added.
