Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav highlighted several key achievements of his six-month-old government, including the signing of a tripartite agreement for the Ken-Betwa river linking project, removal of obstacles in the Parvati-Kali Sindh and Gandhi Sagar's Chambal project, and the approval for a ₹60,000 crore ethane cracker unit in Sehore district.
Yadav, who took office on 13 December after being elected leader of the BJP's legislature party on 11 December, celebrated the signing of the river linking agreement between the Chief Ministers of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh and the central water resources ministry, witnessed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"The inking of a tripartite agreement for the implementation of the Ken-Betwa river linking project is a major achievement of the government," Yadav told reporters, marking 180 days of his administration.
He noted that tenders worth over ₹17,000 crore have already been invited for the river linking project.
Regarding the Parvati-Kali Sindh project, Yadav stated that the central government would provide ₹35,000 crore each to Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan for its execution.
Additionally, efforts have been made to resolve bottlenecks in the Gandhi Sagar's Chambal dam project, which was constructed in 1956.
Yadav announced that the central PSU GAIL has requested support from the state government to establish India's largest ethane cracker unit, with an investment of approximately ₹60,000 crore, in Ashta tehsil of Sehore district.
The project, requiring around 800 hectares of land provided by the MP Industrial Development Corporation, will involve setting up a 1,500-kilotonne per annum ethane cracker project and a greenfield petrochemicals complex.
The project is expected to create nearly 15,000 jobs during its implementation and an additional 5,600 jobs once operational.
Yadav also mentioned his administration's crackdown on noise pollution, with action taken in over 32,000 cases following his first order to restrict the decibel levels of sound systems at religious and other locations.
He highlighted the launch of several services, including the "PM Shri Air Ambulance Service" for remote patients, "PM Shri Paryatan Vayu Sewa," and "PM Shri Dharmik Paryatan Heli Sewa" to benefit the public.
Preparations are underway for the 2028 Simhasth (Kumbh) mela in Ujjain, with a task force already constituted.
Among other achievements, Yadav listed efforts for water body conservation under the 'Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan,' a 26 per cent increase in GST collection amounting to ₹19,091 crore, and the continuation of welfare schemes like Ladli Behna and Ladli Laxmi, initiated by his predecessor, for women and girls.
