In a heartbreaking incident in Biaora town, Raigarh district of Madhya Pradesh, a 27-year-old man died by suicide, leaving behind a video accusing his wife and in-laws of mental torture.
The man reportedly hanged himself from the ceiling fan in his home on Sunday, citing harassment from his wife and abuse from her family as reasons for his extreme step.
In the video, he claimed his wife often stayed at her parents’ home for extended periods, returning every two weeks, and frequently argued with his family. He also alleged that his in-laws’ behavior had caused him significant mental stress. Despite his repeated efforts to reconcile with his wife and convince her to return, she insisted on living separately, which further strained their relationship.
Virendra Dhakad, the in-charge of Biaora city police station, confirmed the case and assured that a thorough investigation is underway to determine further legal action.
Similar tragedy in Gujarat
A similar case was reported in Gujarat on January 4, where a 39-year-old man blamed his wife for his death in a video before hanging himself in Zamrala village. The man alleged that his wife frequently argued with him and left to stay at her parents’ home, causing immense mental harassment.
In the video, he urged authorities to take action against his wife, holding her responsible for his death. Following the incident, the man’s father filed a complaint, claiming his daughter-in-law’s actions amounted to mental abuse and domestic harassment.
The Gujarat police registered a case under IPC Section 108 for abetment of suicide. Investigations revealed the man had repeatedly tried to persuade his wife to return, but his efforts were unsuccessful, leading him to take the drastic step.
Highlighting domestic abuse in India
These incidents underline the growing concern of domestic violence, in-laws abuse, and mental torture faced by individuals in marital disputes. Both cases, one in Madhya Pradesh and the other in Gujarat, shed light on how domestic abuse in India can escalate into tragic outcomes like suicide.
Authorities are probing both matters to ensure justice for the victims and accountability for the accused.
