Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced on Thursday that the state government aims to increase its contribution to India’s economy from the current 4% to 5% over the next five years.
Speaking at the 78th Independence Day celebration at Lal Parade Ground in Bhopal, where he unfurled the tricolour, Yadav also revealed plans to launch four development missions focused on youth, women, farmers, and the poor starting November 1.
"Bharat has established itself on the global stage under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. The country has made significant strides over the past decade and is on the path to becoming the world's third-largest economy," Yadav stated.
He added that Madhya Pradesh is committed to raising its economic contribution to the nation, targeting a 1% increase over the next five years, while also working towards doubling the state budget.
Inspired by PM Modi's focus on youth, women, farmers, and the poor, Yadav said Madhya Pradesh will launch four dedicated missions to empower these groups.
"Our youth need access to artificial intelligence and new technologies alongside traditional knowledge. To support this, we have invested Rs 485 crore to transform one college in each of the state's 55 districts into a PM College of Excellence," the Chief Minister explained.
Yadav also highlighted efforts to fill vacant government posts, noting that over 11,000 young people have received appointment letters in the past eight months.
Additionally, more than 60 industrial units are being established with an investment of Rs 10,000 crore, expected to create over 17,000 job opportunities in the state, he said.
