Mumbai is set to witness 22 high tides this monsoon season, with the tides reaching 4.5 metres in height.

In its release, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said that these tides are expected to lash the Mumbai coastline between June and September 2024.

In Mumbai, low-lying areas usually get flooded during heavy rains and high tides during the monsoon.

June will see seven days of high tides above 4.5 metres. There would be four such days in July, five days in August and six days in September.

The highest tides, reaching 4.84 metres, are expected at 1.03 am on September 20.

The civic body has urged citizens to follow safety guidelines while visiting beaches during the monsoon.
