A woman was killed, and her husband and the taxi driver were injured on Sunday when large boulders fell onto their taxi in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. The incident occurred on the Chandigarh-Manali Highway near 4 Mile.
The taxi was carrying a family from Mumbai who were on vacation. The woman, named Priya, died at the scene due to the impact of the rocks, while her husband and the driver were injured.
They were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, and the driver was later sent to PGI Chandigarh for further care, according to Sagar Chand, the Additional Superintendent of Police in Mandi.
In a separate incident in Mumbai, a speeding tempo ran over five pedestrians in Ghatkopar West on Friday. One woman, identified as Preeti Ritesh Patel, was killed, and four others were injured. The injured were rushed to the hospital, and the tempo driver, Uttam Baban Kharat, was arrested.
The accident happened around 6:30 pm when the tempo, carrying cold drinks, lost control and hit the pedestrians. Eyewitnesses helped catch the driver, who was handed over to the police.
The injured were identified as Reshma Sheikh, Marufa Sheikh, Tofa Uzhar Sheikh, and Moharam Ali Abdul Rahim Sheikh.
