Nagaland’s first-ever water park, Merry Land Park, has officially opened its doors in Chumoukedima, offering a fresh leisure attraction for residents and visitors alike. The park was inaugurated on Saturday, adding a new dimension to the state’s tourism and recreational landscape.

Located just minutes from the Deputy Commissioner’s office and 2.9 km from the national highway, Merry Land Park boasts a variety of attractions aimed at entertaining families, adventure seekers, and children.

Among the highlights are exhilarating water rides such as the Niagara Falls, wave pools, and more family-friendly amusements including a carousel, a children’s play area, and a skating rink.

The park’s extensive offerings also include a gaming arcade, bumper cars, a paddle pool, funnel slide, rain dance area, and a traditional Morung—a Naga community hall—providing visitors with both modern and cultural experiences.

For those looking to unwind after a day of excitement, the park features a rock garden, a food court, and even a photo booth to capture memories.

Rates and visiting hours

Merry Land Park, which will open to the public in the coming week, will operate daily from 10 am to 6 pm. Ticket prices are set at Rs 500 for adults and Rs 400 for children on weekdays, with weekend rates rising to Rs 600 and Rs 500, respectively.

Special discounts will be available for children, students, senior citizens, and people with disabilities.

Speaking at the inauguration, Managing Director TK Angami expressed his immense joy at the park’s launch, describing it as a "dream come true."

He explained that the idea for the park originated seven years ago, driven by a desire to provide a space for the community to enjoy leisure and entertainment.

Angami dedicated the achievement to "the Almighty" and thanked everyone involved in bringing the project to fruition.

Boost to tourism and community spirit

Chumoukedima’s District Commissioner, Polan John, commended the park’s proprietor and team for their efforts in establishing Nagaland’s first water park.

He highlighted the potential of Merry Land Park to attract visitors from across the state and neighbouring regions, giving a much-needed boost to local tourism.

John emphasised that the park would serve as an important recreational space for families and a key attraction for tourists, bringing economic benefits to the region.

The park’s administrator, Vitono Haralu, revealed that Merry Land Park currently spans 10 acres with plans for future expansion. Some attractions will be included in the ticket price, while others will be available at an additional cost.
