Nagrota logs 53%, Budgam 34 % voter turnout by 1 pm

The two seats had fallen vacant after Omar Abdullah vacated the Budgam seat following his win on the Ganderbal seat, while the Nagrota seat fell vacant after BJP leader Devender Singh Rana’s demise.

Voting continued steadily across Jammu & Kashmir’s Nagrota and Budgam constituencies on Tuesday morning, with both seats registering significant turnout figures by 1 pm, according to official data.

 

As per official data, Nagrota Assembly Constituency (AC-77) registered an approximate voter turnout of 52.44 per cent by 1 p.m., reflecting an active response from the electorate in the early hours of polling.

 

In Budgam Assembly Constituency (AC-27), the turnout stood at 34.01 per cent around the same time, with officials expecting the numbers to rise as the day progresses.

 

Voting steadily picked up pace across Jammu and Kashmir’s Nagrota and Budgam constituencies on Tuesday morning, with both seats recording good turnout figures by 11 am, according to official data.

 

Polling officials said that despite cold conditions in several areas, voters continued to arrive at booths in steady numbers, with security forces ensuring smooth and peaceful voting across the twin constituencies.

 

A total of 17 candidates are testing their fate here, including National Conference’s Aga Syed Mehmood, Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate Aga Syed Muntazir, BJP’s Aga Syed Mohsin and others. 

Both seats are expected to witness a tight race, with the National Conference and PDP locked for the Budgam seat, while the BJP and NC are locked in a close race for the Nagrota seat.

 

The two seats had fallen vacant after Omar Abdullah vacated the Budgam seat following his win on the Ganderbal seat, while the Nagrota seat fell vacant after BJP leader Devender Singh Rana’s demise.
