The record was made official on January 31, but the details released on Tuesday show the scale of the "Swarna Kuppam Vision 2029" project. Speaking to a crowd in Thumsi village, Naidu pitched the electric bikes as more than just a freebie; he called them a "catalyst for economic independence."

N Chandrababu Naidu has officially landed in the Guinness Book of World Records after a whirlwind 24-hour distribution drive in his home turf of Kuppam. The Chief Minister managed to hand over 3,742 "Super Cycles" (high-end e-cycles) to women and students in just a single day, out of a total batch of 5,555 units planned for the area.

The record was made official on January 31, but the details released on Tuesday show the scale of the "Swarna Kuppam Vision 2029" project. Speaking to a crowd in Thumsi village, Naidu pitched the electric bikes as more than just a freebie; he called them a "catalyst for economic independence."

Since the cycles were assembled locally in Kuppam by e-Motorad, he noted that they cost the owners "zero rupees" to run if they use rooftop solar power for charging.

The beneficiaries are mostly women on the front lines of community work— SHG members, Anganwadi teachers, ASHA workers, and village secretariat staff. With a 60-kilometer range per charge, the CM estimated that these women could save up to ₹1,500 a month on fuel, which is a significant boost for rural households.

Beyond the pocketbook, there’s a massive environmental angle. The project, designed with help from IIT Kanpur, aims to make Kuppam India’s first net-zero model. While a standard petrol scooter emits approximately 68 g CO2 per km, the e-cycle generates a mere 15.2 gram CO2 per km, the release said which is a 75 per cent reduction in greenhouse gas intensity. To prove the point, Naidu even led a 3 km rally from Sivapuram on one of the bikes to show they’re actually practical and easy to handle. Encouraged by the massive turnout and the new world record, the state government is now looking at how to scale this "Super Cycle" model across the rest of Andhra Pradesh. As Naidu put it, net-zero isn't just a "Western luxury" —  it's an Indian necessity.
