On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) will launch a new scheme to offer free legal assistance to soldiers and their families, officials said on Friday.
Kargil Vijay Diwas is observed every year on July 26 to mark India’s victory in the 1999 Kargil War.
NALSA’s executive chairman will virtually launch ‘Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana’ on Saturday. As part of this, legal services clinics will be opened in Sainik Welfare Boards across the country.
Kuldeep Sharma, Secretary and Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of the District Legal Services Authority, said a legal services clinic will also be set up at the Himachal Pradesh Ex-Servicemen Corporation headquarters in Hamirpur.
These clinics will offer free legal support to ex-servicemen, serving soldiers, and their families. Panel lawyers and para-legal volunteers will be available to assist them in the clinic.
Saturday’s launch event will be attended by senior judicial officers, government officials, members of the Ex-Servicemen Corporation and Sainik Welfare Department, lawyers, and soldiers’ family members.
