The Amritsar Commissionerate Police have dismantled a major cross-border narcotics and arms network with the arrest of six operatives and recovery of 4 kg of heroin and two pistols from them.
The police said on Thursday that according to preliminary investigation, the accused were in touch with a Pakistan‑based handler identified as Shah through the social media. They said the operatives received consignments of heroin and weapons in the Khemkaran and Ferozepur sectors, which were pushed in by Pakistani smugglers using drones.
An FIR has been lodged at the Gate Islamabad police station in Amritsar. Further probe is on to map the backward and forward linkages in the case and get to the bottom of the network.
