A massive public turnout was witnessed in Bandipora on Monday during a mega padyatra organised under the ongoing ‘100 Days Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan’, aimed at spreading awareness against drug abuse and promoting a healthier society.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha reached SK Stadium, Bandipora, to lead the anti-drug padyatra and received a warm welcome from locals and officials. The crowd, largely comprising youth, urged him to continue the anti-drug campaign in a sustained manner and pledged full support to Sinha’s ongoing drive.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from students, youth, officials, volunteers, and residents from different parts of the district. It is pertinent to mention that Sinha had earlier led a similar massive anti-drug padyatra in South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
So far, since the launch of the Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan, more than 800 persons have been arrested, hundreds of kilograms of narcotics seized, and over 50 properties attached or demolished.
The one-kilometre-long mega padyatra led by LG Manoj Sinha was organised as part of the government’s intensified campaign to make Jammu and Kashmir drug-free through public awareness, community participation, and youth engagement.
Officials said the “Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan” is being carried out across the Union Territory with active support from the administration, police, educational institutions, and local communities to eradicate the drug menace from society.
