Union Home Minister Amit Shah has stated that Naxalism has been completely eradicated from the Bokaro region in northern Jharkhand. His comments came following a successful operation by security forces in the state's Hazaribagh.
"The entire country will be free from the Naxal problem," he said.
In a post on X, Shah expressed, "Today, in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, a joint team of the CRPF's Cobra Battalion and the state police has achieved a major success in an anti-Naxal operation. In this operation, the notorious Naxal commander with a ₹1 crore bounty, Central Committee Member of CPI(Maoist) Sahdev Soren alias Parvesh, has been eliminated. Additionally, two other wanted Naxalites, Raghunath Hembram alias Chanchal and Birsen Ganjhu alias Ramkhelawan, have also been gunned down by the security forces."
Earlier on Sunday, Jharkhand police also killed Mukhdeo Yadav, a wanted Maoist and member of the banned Tritiya Sammelan Prastuti Committee (TSPC), during an encounter. The fierce gun battle between security forces and the TSPC lasted for several hours in the Manatu jungles of Palamu.
Police action against Maoists and organised criminals has been intensified in Jharkhand, with an average of three encounters taking place every month over the past eight months. A total of 30 Maoists and three notorious criminals have been killed in police encounters by security forces across different districts in the state. During these encounters, five security personnel have also been killed.
