Naxalites killed two men in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district, accusing them of being police informers, police said on Thursday. The victims, Baman Kashyap (29) and Anis Ram Poyam (38), were attacked in their village, Todma, under Barsoor police station limits on Wednesday evening.

After receiving information about the attack, security forces rushed to the village, which is located deep in the forest near the Dantewada-Bijapur border. Further details about the killings are still being investigated.

Naxalites leave a warning pamphlet

One of the victims, Baman Kashyap, worked as a temporary visiting teacher (‘shiksha doot’) at a government school. A pamphlet left by the Aaamdai Area Committee of East Bastar division of the Maoists accused him of being a police informer.

According to the pamphlet, Kashyap had given information to Dantewada police about Naxalite movements before the Thulthuli encounter in October 2024. In that operation, security forces had killed 38 Naxalites in the forested area between Thulthuli and Nendur villages in Abhujmaad.
