Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Sunday stated that Naxal groups were becoming increasingly frustrated as security forces intensified their operations against them in the state.
His remarks came during a wreath-laying ceremony held at the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) 133 Battalion headquarters in Ranchi, where tributes were paid to a jawan who lost his life in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in West Singhbhum district.
Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar also joined Soren in honoring the fallen soldier, as senior officials and CRPF personnel paid their respects to the martyr. Addressing reporters after the ceremony, Soren emphasized the government's commitment to tackling the Naxal insurgency.
"The jawan’s sacrifice will not go in vain. The Naxals are frustrated because security operations against them are gaining strength. These operations will continue with full force," he said.
The deceased, identified as Sub-Inspector Sunil Kumar Mandal of CRPF’s 193 Battalion, was critically injured in an IED blast near Vangram Marangponga forest in the Chotanagra police station area of West Singhbhum during an anti-Naxal operation on Saturday. Another jawan, Partha Pratim Dey, also sustained injuries in the attack.
Both were airlifted to Ranchi for urgent medical treatment, but Mandal later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the state capital.
Security forces continue to conduct extensive operations in the region to root out Naxal activities, with authorities reiterating their resolve to bring peace and stability to affected areas.
