Nearly 42 lakh voter names have been deleted from the draft electoral rolls in Rajasthan during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), according to state Chief Electoral Officer Naveen Mahajan. Mahajan announced on Tuesday that enumeration forms for 41.79 lakh voters out of a total of 5.46 crore voters could not be collected. The names proposed for deletion include 8.75 lakh deceased voters, 29.6 lakh who have either shifted or were absent, and 3.44 lakh individuals enrolled at multiple places.
In addition, he noted that approximately 11 lakh voters will be issued notices requesting documentation.
"As on 16.12.2025, out of 5,46,56,215 electors, 5,04,71,396 electors have submitted their enumeration forms, reflecting overwhelming participation in the first phase of SIR," Mahajan said, adding that the highest number of voter deletions occurred in Jaipur.
He confirmed that booth-wise lists of electors whose names are not included in the draft roll will be displayed on the notice boards of the respective panchayat bhavans or urban local body offices, enabling the public to access the list along with the probable reasons for non-inclusion.
The period for claims and objections will run from December 16, 2025, to January 15, 2026, during which any elector or political party may file claims for the inclusion of eligible voters or objections for the deletion of ineligible names.
Mahajan credited the successful completion of this phase to the coordinated efforts of district electoral officers, 199 electoral registration officers, 850 assistant electoral registration officers, and the booth-level officers deployed at 61,136 polling booths, all supported by volunteers.
He also acknowledged the active participation of field representatives from all eight major political parties, who appointed as many as 1,04,713 Booth Level Agents (BLAs). The Election Commission had announced on Monday that draft electoral rolls for three states, including Rajasthan, and two Union Territories would be published on Tuesday as part of the ongoing SIR.
