A 17-year-old student preparing for the NEET medical entrance examination was found dead at his residence in the New Ranip area of Ahmedabad on Thursday, police said.
According to officials, the student, a resident of Aristo Anandam flats, died in the early hours of the day. The incident came to light in the morning when a security guard at the residential complex noticed the situation and alerted residents and the police.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (L Division) Rana Digvijay Singh said the student had appeared for the NEET examination after completing Class 12 and was preparing for the upcoming re-test scheduled for July 21.

“He had performed well in the exam and was preparing further. The exact reason behind the incident is not yet known. The family is yet to be questioned, and his electronic devices, including a laptop, will be examined. We will also record statements from his classmates,” Singh said. The body has been sent to Civil Hospital for post-mortem.
Police officials from Sabarmati Police Station confirmed that a case has been registered and a detailed investigation is underway. Authorities are examining the student’s phone, study materials, and other aspects to understand the circumstances surrounding the incident
The death has left the family and local community in shock. No definitive cause has been established so far.
