A Nepal national was detained in Kotkhai, around 60 km from Shimla, for allegedly killing his wife following a domestic altercation, the police said on Monday.
The incident came to light on Sunday evening when the body of the woman, identified as Deepa, was discovered with multiple injuries and bruises. The police said the victim’s husband, Jeet Bahadur, confessed to the crime during preliminary questioning at the scene.
According to officials, fellow Nepali labourer Ramesh Dangi informed their employer, Hari Krishan Dhanta, after finding Deepa unconscious and injured. Upon arriving at the spot, the police questioned Jeet Bahadur, who admitted that he had a violent altercation with his wife on Saturday and struck her with a wooden stick, which led to her death.
He has been booked for murder under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), police confirmed.
