Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren, who joined BJP today with a large number of supporters, came down heavily on incumbent Chief Minister Hemant Soren and said that he had never thought he would be spied upon.
Addressing party workers at a grand ceremony in Ranchi on Friday Champai said, “I am a man of clean heart. Honesty and struggle are my political capital. I never thought that I would be spied on. Spies were put behind the person who fought for Jharkhand. Knowing this I decided to join the party and serve the people.”
The BJP has alleged two officers of Jharkhand Police were keeping track of Champai during his recent Delhi visit and were secretly taking his pictures.
The former JMM leader said, “Saving the existence of tribals, natives and Jharkhand is my priority. There could not have been a better platform than BJP for this.”
Champai said that the party that they nurtured along with Guruji (Shibu Soren), has now turned into a party of wife and husband (Hemant and Kalpana Soren).
“Today the situation has become such that I had to take this step. The insult that I faced, there was no such platform inside the party where I could put my pain,” he said.
“The central committee has not been formed for 5 years, no meeting is being held. Guruji is senior to us, he is unwell, after him there is no one. Deciding not to harm the party which we nurtured, we decided to leave it alone,” said Champai.
He further said that tribals are going through a crisis of existence. Dozens of tribal villages have been wiped out in Santhal Pargana region. “We have taken this step to save the tribal indigenous society. I have full faith in BJP that we will be able to fight from this platform and will be successful in saving the existence of the tribals,” he added.
