The Uttarakhand government on Thursday has approved the construction of a new nursing college at the site of the old district hospital in Rudrapur.
The government has approved a project worth Rs 29.35 crore for building the college on two acres of land at the old Jawahar Lal Nehru (JLN) district Hospital.
The construction will be overseen by the government medical college, and an agreement for the work will be signed between the irrigation department and the health and education departments.
The plan was initially proposed by the Directorate of Medical Education a year ago, which identified the old hospital land for the nursing college.
The project details, submitted by Executive Engineer KS Sajwan of the Dehradun irrigation department, include a four-storey hostel for 170 girls, a three-storey academic building, and a guard room.
“Administrative approval for the nursing college has been given. A four-storey hostel and a three-storey academic block will be built. The contract will be finalised after financial clearance,” said Sajwan.
