Former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Thursday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government of orchestrating scams under the guise of crop procurement, alleging that fresh conditions are being imposed to avoid purchasing farmers’ produce.
Addressing a press conference in Narayangarh along with State Congress president Rao Narendra, Hooda claimed that a ‘new scam’ is unfolding in the procurement of wheat and mustard. He alleged that instead of ensuring smooth procurement, the government is burdening farmers with what he termed as unnecessary and complicated requirements.
“Conditions such as portal registration, gate passes, biometric verification, tractor registration numbers, general verification, and even the requirement of a guarantor are being arbitrarily imposed,” he said. Hooda added that such measures are creating hurdles for farmers and delaying procurement.

He further alleged that farmers were being “treated like criminals” and being trapped in a bureaucratic process so that the government could avoid procuring their crops. Drawing a comparison with the previous Congress regime, Hooda claimed procurement during that period was carried out smoothly without such complications.
Several senior party leaders were present at the press conference, including MLA Nirmal Singh, MP Varun Mulana, MLAs Akram Khan, Ramkaran Kala, and Pooja Mulana, along with district leaders and party workers.
Responding to questions on the Rajya Sabha elections and cross-voting by some MLAs, Hooda said those who went against the party line should resign on moral grounds. He accused them of betraying both the party and the electorate that elected them to oppose the BJP.
Echoing similar sentiments, Rao Narendra said strict action would be taken against the MLAs involved in cross-voting. “Their names, along with my report, have been forwarded to the party leadership. Further action will be taken by the high command,” he said, adding that those who betray the party would ultimately be held accountable by the public.
