The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has announced that it will restore the pre-COVID train numbering system from January next year. According to an official release issued on Saturday, all NFR-owned passenger trains will resume operating with their regular numbers, replacing the temporary ‘0’ numbering system implemented during the pandemic.

“Northeast Frontier Railway has decided to run all passenger trains with their regular numbers as was running prior to COVID-19. All the 60 pairs of passenger trains will operate as per earlier frequency with their earlier train numbers from January 2025 onwards,” the release stated.

The decision covers a total of 60 pairs of passenger trains across multiple divisions. Out of these, four pairs will operate from the Tinsukia division, 19 pairs from the Lumding division, 10 pairs from the Rangiya division, six pairs from the Alipurduar division, and 21 pairs from the Katihar division.

Details regarding the stoppages and timings of all these 60 pairs of trains are available on the IRCTC website and NFR’s social media platforms, the release added.
