The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday said it has arrested three people in connection with the IED blast near the outer wall of Nalagarh Police Station in Himachal Pradesh on January 1 this year. The blast took place close to the room of the investigating officer inside the police station premises.
The arrested accused have been identified as Mahavir Kumar alias Kaka, Ajay Mehra and Manpreet Singh alias Mani. They were produced before the Special NIA Court in Shimla. Kumar and Mehra have been sent to eight days of police custody, while Manpreet Singh was remanded in judicial custody.
The case was first registered at Nalagarh Police Station after the explosion at around 9.40 am on January 1. The NIA later took over the investigation and registered the case on May 8 as RC-27/2026/NIA/DLI under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Explosive Substances Act and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
During its investigation, the NIA found evidence pointing to the involvement of Kumar, Mehra and Singh in the blast. The agency said their arrests are part of efforts to uncover the wider conspiracy behind the attack.
The NIA said its probe is continuing. The agency is working to identify and arrest other people linked to the conspiracy and determine the larger network involved in the attack.
