The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has charge-sheeted Jatinder Singh alias Joti, a close associate of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terrorist Lakhbir Singh alias Landa and notorious gangster Pavittar Batala, in connection with a terror conspiracy case in Punjab.

Jatinder, a resident of Gurdaspur district in Punjab, was arrested from Mumbai on December 23, 2024, in the case. According to the NIA, he played a crucial role in the illegal procurement and supply of firearms from Madhya Pradesh to Punjab-based gangsters and terror operatives.

The investigation revealed that Jatinder facilitated arms delivery to Batala’s ground operatives, who were working in close coordination with Landa’s foreign-based handlers. The weapons were allegedly used to further BKI’s terror agenda in Punjab.

The agency also identified Baljeet Singh alias Rana Bhai, a known arms supplier from Madhya Pradesh, as Jatinder’s main source for procuring weapons. Baljeet has already been arrested and charge-sheeted by the NIA.

Jatinder and his associates used virtual numbers and encrypted communication apps to evade arrest by law enforcement agencies, the NIA said. The role of Lakhbir Singh Landa, designated terrorist Harwinder Singh alias Rinda, and their foreign-based accomplices remains under investigation.

On June 12, the NIA conducted searches at 15 locations locations linked with the Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terror organisation in Punjab and Haryana, including Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Pathankot, Kapurthala, Rupnagar, and Sirsa. These raids were part of the ongoing probe into the January 2025 grenade attack on a police post in Amritsar.

NIA said a host of incriminating materials, including mobiles and digital devices and documents, were seized during the searches, and are being examined for further clues to the terror syndicate of BKI.

As part of its investigation, NIA, which took over the case in April 2025 and re-registered it as RC-09/2025/NIA/DLI, on June 12 searched the premises of accused and suspects linked to Mandeep as well as Sarwan Singh alias Bhola, currently based in USA, and his brother Mandeep Singh alias Makka.
