The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday detained ten suspected members of the banned terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) in Goalpara, Assam. The operation took place in the Krishnai area, targeting a suspected hideout of the group.

All ten individuals are currently undergoing interrogation at a confidential location.

According to Goalpara Superintendent of Police Nabaneet Mahanta, the detainees are believed to be involved in various activities associated with JeM, including recruitment, fundraising, and planning attacks.

The NIA’s operation was part of a broader investigation that involved search operations across 22 locations in five states, including Maharashtra, Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Assam, and Uttar Pradesh.

Sources in the agency indicated that the coordinated efforts aimed to disrupt activities linked to the Pakistan-based terrorist outfit.

In Maharashtra, the NIA collaborated with the state Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) to target suspects allegedly engaged in anti-national activities associated with JeM.
