The local court on Monday granted a five-day remand to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for two individuals accused of harbouring Pakistani terrorists involved in the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, officials said.

The two men identified as Parvaiz Ahmad Jothar from Batkote, Pahalgam, and Bashir Ahmad Jothar of Hill Park, Pahalgam, were taken into custody by the National Investigation Agency on Sunday in a breakthrough in the month-long investigations into the attack that left 26 people dead and 16 others injured in one of the worst attacks in the Valley carried out on tourists.

As per NIA, the apprehended individuals have disclosed the identities of the three armed terrorists involved in the attack and have also confirmed that they were of Pakistani origin, affiliated with one of the proscribed terror outfits, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

A court official informed reporters here that both accused were produced in the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge, Jammu, Ritesh Kumar Dubey, and then sent to NIA custody for five days until June 27.

Bashir and Bashir had purposely harboured the three armed terrorists at the seasonal Dhok (hut) at Hill Park prior to the attack, revealed NIA investigations.

They had allegedly provided food, shelter and logistical support to the terrorists, who then went on a rampage, killing 26 people in broad daylight, making it one of the worst terror attacks in the country.

The attack had brought India and Pakistan to the brink of war, raising geopolitical tensions across the region.
