A team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday carried out widespread search operations in the Mattan forest area of the Anantnag district, in connection with the November 10 Red Fort explosion that killed 15 people and left 30 others injured.
They said a team of NIA investigating officers, accompanied by the Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF, brought along the main accused, Dr Adeel Rather and Jasir Bilal Wani, arrested in connection with the “white collar” terror module. The two accused individuals had reportedly told investigators about three hideouts in the Mattan forest area of the South Kashmir district, officials said.
Meanwhile, on Monday, the Delhi High Court extended the NIA custody of three doctors and a preacher apprehended in connection with the November 10 Red Fort blast case by four days.
All of the accused, including prime suspect Dr Muzammil Ganai and Dr Adeel Rather, along with Dr Shaheena Saeed and Maulvi Irfan Ahmed Wagay, were produced before Principal and Sessions Judge Anju Bajaj Chandna on the expiry of their 10-day NIA custody granted on November 29.
NIA has so far arrested seven people in connection with the Delhi blast, which the investigators believe was a part of a broader interstate terror module planning to carry out a series of blasts across India.
On November 10, Dr Umar-un-Nabi was driving the explosives-laden Hyundai i20 car that detonated outside the Red Fort, killing 15 people and injuring several others.
