Following the recent terror attack on a bus carrying pilgrims, resulting in nine deaths and 41 injuries, the Vice Chairman of the Shiv Khori Shrine Board in Reasi has issued new security directives.
According to a statement issued by the temple trust, visitors will now be required to undergo thorough security check-ups and identity verification by the temple authorities.
The directives include increased security personnel, additional CCTV cameras, better patrolling, and stricter checking of vehicles entering the shrine.
In addition, the board has decided to completely ban the carrying of arms or ammunition on the shrine premises.
All pilgrims visiting the holy cave of Lord Shiva are now required to provide a photocopy of their Aadhaar card along with their contact number.
Pilgrims must present a photocopy of their Aadhaar card and contact number at the designated registration counter.
"Without a photocopy of the Aadhaar card, no registration slip shall be issued," the statement read.
Pilgrims are requested to bring the original Aadhaar card as well for verification. The registration counter will be open every day on the day of the pilgrimage.
Pilgrims will not be allowed to enter the temple without a registration slip.
The new measure aims to improve identification procedures, as many injured and deceased victims of the Reasi terrorist attack on June 9 remained unidentified until late evening on the day of the incident.
