Former Union Minister and BJP leader Raosaheb Danve stated on Tuesday that there would be no "friendly contests" among the Mahayuti alliance partners in the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections. Instead, the winnability of candidates will serve as the sole criterion for seat allocation.
Speaking to reporters, Danve dismissed claims that the Mahayuti constituents—BJP, Shiv Sena, and the NCP—would announce a chief ministerial candidate prior to the polls.
"The decision regarding the next chief minister of Maharashtra will only be made after the election results are declared. No one will discuss it before the elections," Danve said.
Addressing speculation about potential friendly contests between BJP and NCP on some seats, he categorically denied such claims. "There will not be any friendly contests among the NDA constituents. We will reach an amicable seat-sharing agreement based on the winnability of candidates," he emphasised.
The Maharashtra assembly polls for the 288-member House are expected to take place in November.
