The Northern Army Commander, Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, visited North Kashmir on Tuesday to assess the anti-infiltration grid and the operational preparedness of units deployed along the Line of Control (LoC).
Defence officials accompanying the Army Commander said Lt Gen Sharma interacted with forward-deployed troops and appreciated their level of combat readiness, resilience, and consistent performance in challenging terrain.
He urged the troops to continue maintaining high vigilance, developing skills, adopt new technologies, and enhance innovation to remain a future-ready force, the Jammu-based Defence PRO said.
On November 8, security forces killed two terrorists who tried to infiltrate the Line of Control (LoC) in the Keran sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district, Defence sources said.
“Two terrorists were killed in Operation Pimple in the Keran sector, where an infiltration bid was foiled late last evening,” a Defence official said.
According to sources, soldiers of the 21 Grenadiers, upon noticing suspicious movement near the forward defended location Pimple in the Keran sector and fired warning shots at the terrorists.
According to Defence official, the warning shots triggered a fierce exchange of gunfire from both sides, and during retaliation, two terrorists were gunned down in the encounter.
