The General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command, Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, on Saturday visited the Strategic Strikers in Jammu and reviewed the operational preparedness.
The Lieutenant General’s visit took place in the backdrop of the security forces’ anti-terrorist operation in Udhampur’s Basantgarh area in Jammu and Kashmir, in which a top Jaish-e-Muhammad Commander, Haider Alias Moulvi, was gunned down.
Meanwhile, a search for the three remaining associates of Moulvi continue on the third day of the encounter as forces widen the radius of search to track the militants.
Earlier, the Army’s Northern Command posted on X: “Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, Army Commander Northern Command, visited Strategic Strikers and reviewed the operational preparedness. He complimented the formation for its integrated and synergised training and primed preparedness.”
“The army highlighted the need for dynamic and comprehensive planning and situation-immersed preparedness levels to cater to any arising challenges,” the post further read, and said that the Army Commander had complimented all ranks for the successful execution of operations while exhorting them to maintain “sharp vigilance, adopt proactive measures, and uphold exemplary professionalism at all times”.
The Lt Gen also complimented the Valley-based Chinar Corps for their swift response in one of the encounters in Awantipora that resulted in the death of three militants.
The Chinar Corps post later stated: "Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, Army Commander #NorthernCommand, compliments #ChinarCorps for their swift action and precise execution in the joint operation that neutralised three terrorists in #Awantipora. The #IndianArmy stands by its commitment to keeping #JammuKashmir terror-free.”
