Northern Army commander Lieutenant General M.V. Suchindra Kumar reviewed the security situation in J&K’s Kishtwar district.
He urged security forces to maintain the highest standards of professionalism during operations.
The visit comes at a time when the district witnessed back-to-back terror incidents last week.
During the anti-terror operation, one junior commissioned officer from the elite Para Commandos lost his life while three others sustained injuries. The deceased officer was identified as Rakesh Kumar.
This happened two days after suspected militants killed two Village Defence Guards (VDGs) on November 8.
While the officer, along with his team, was tracking the militants involved in the killing of two VDGs, the hiding militants fired upon the approaching troops, killing one and injuring three more in the action.
Meanwhile, during his visit on Monday, the Army commander was briefed on operational preparedness and the ongoing counter-insurgency operations in the region.
“Lt Gen M V Suchindra Kumar, Army Commander Northern Command, accompanied by GOC White Knight Corps and GOC CIF (D), visited Kishtwar to review the prevailing security situation," Northern Command said in a post on X.
The army commander also commended the troops for their undeterred commitment towards the nation.
Additionally, he directed all ranks to uphold exemplary professionalism in their operational conduct, the post added.
