All India Congress Committee spokesperson and former Not in race for state party chief post: Kuldeep Rathore (HPCC) president Kuldeep Singh Rathore on Saturday clarified that he is not in the race for the party chief’s post in the state.
Addressing a press conference, Rathore said, “I am often asked by party men whether I am in the race for HPCC president but I have no intention of becoming the president. I am happy with the current responsibility entrusted by the High Command.”
Currently, Rathore serves as the Congress in-charge for Surendra Nagar in Gujarat, which encompasses five assembly segments. Rathore who returned from Gujarat on Friday said that as HPCC president earlier, he had played a major role in bringing the Congress back to power in the state.
Commenting on the state government’s move to shift the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) headquarters from Shimla to Dharamshala, Rathore expressed reservations. “Employees from various districts have met me and shared their concerns. Since its inception in 1972, the HPTDC head office has been in Shimla, and the staff believes it should remain there,” he said.
Rathore, who represents Theog constituency in Shimla district, suggested that instead of relocating the head office, a regional office can be opened in Dharamshala to enhance administrative outreach. He assured that he would take up the matter with Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and HPTDC Chairman R.S. Bali, who earlier this week announced the decision to shift the corporation’s base.
