Renowned Assamese music composer Ramen Baruah has been reported missing, causing widespread concern.

 

The 84-year-old left his home in Guwahati’s Latasil area on Monday morning, intending to visit a nearby temple, but did not return, prompting his family to alert the police.

 

Guwahati Police have initiated a search operation to locate Baruah.

 

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed deep concern over the disappearance, highlighting the anxiety it has caused among Baruah’s family, friends, and admirers.

 

Sarma posted on X, “I am deeply concerned about the sudden disappearance of Sri Ramen Baruah, missing since this morning. His absence worries his family, friends, and countless admirers. I have asked Commissioner of @GuwahatiPol Sri Diganta Bora to mobilise all resources and take swift action to locate him.”

 

 

Baruah, a celebrated radio artist, has made significant contributions to Assamese cinema, composing music for acclaimed films such as Dr. Bezbarua, Baruar Sangee, Mukuta, Lalita, Kokadeuta, and Nati Aru Hati.

 

As the search continues, the community hopes for the safe return of the esteemed musician, whose sudden disappearance has cast a shadow of concern over the region.
