Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik revealed on Tuesday a policy granting women employees in various state government departments an additional 10 days of casual leave, bringing their yearly total to 25 days.
The decision, aimed at acknowledging the family responsibilities and challenges faced by women, was confirmed through an official statement issued by the Chief Minister's Office.
The state government emphasized its pioneering efforts in gender equality, highlighting Odisha as the first in the country to allocate 33% of government positions for women during the 1990s.
Furthermore, the Odisha government recently declared 15 days of casual leave annually for employees in non-government-aided educational institutions. Additionally, women block grant employees in different educational institutions have been granted 180 days of paid maternity leave for two childbirths.
